19 December 2023. Romania. Alstom to equip another Romanian railway line with ERTMS

Alstom is set to modernize the Caransebes-Lugoj railway line in western Romania through the implementation of the ERTMS Level 2 signaling system. The project, part of the broader Caransebes-Lugoj-Timisoara railway line initiative, will encompass 40 kilometers of double track, integrating digital train control solutions and electrification in its first phase.

19 December 2023. United Kingdom. Green Light for Mid Cornwall Metro

Cornwall Council’s cabinet has agreed to provisionally accept the offer of 50 million GBP of Levelling Up Funding to go to the delivery of the 56.8 million GBP Mid Cornwall Metro project. The scheme is to provide better transport links for people to access employment, education, and key services. Working with GWR and Network Rail, the Mid Cornwall Metro coast-to-coast rail service will deliver a transport corridor through central Cornwall by improving the current links between four of Cornwall’s largest towns: Newquay, St Austell, Truro and Falmouth/Penryn.

19 December 2023. Hungary. Alstom to Overhaul 25 Electric Traxx Locomotives for MÁV-START

Alstom has signed a contract with Hungarian MÁV-Vagon worth 3 million EUR for the overhaul of the bogie frames of 25 Traxx locomotives in the MÁV-START fleet. The project’s expected runtime is three years and is intended to improve the quality and reliability of the rolling stock as well as increase the overall safety and efficiency of rail transport.

18 December 2023. Israel. Alstom and consortium finalize contract for Tel Aviv metro Green Line

French rail manufacturer Alstom and its partners Electra and Dan Public Transportation have reached financial closure on the contract for the design, construction, and maintenance of the €2.6bn ($2.8bn) Tel Aviv Metropolitan LRT Green Line. First awarded in May 2022, the contract was signed by Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd with the three companies acting as the TMT Consortium with Alstom working on the design, engineering, and testing of the railway system.

18 December 2023. Germany. Deutsche Bahn Launches Tender for ICE Trains of the Future

On Friday, 15 December, Deutsche Bahn (DB) launched the tender for a new generation of high-speed trains. This includes the development, construction, and approval of a new train fleet, which is to be deployed at the beginning of the 2030s. The future generation of ICE trains will set new standards for the traveling experience with new interior concepts and other innovations.

18 December 2023. Australia. Consortium to deliver Canberra Light Rail Stage 2A

The Canberra Metro consortium, made up of CIMIC Group companies Pacific Partnerships, CPB Contractors and UGL, is set to deliver and operate Stage 2A of Canberra’s light rail system, which will connect the city to Commonwealth Park. The Canberra Light Rail Stage 2A project is jointly funded by the Federal Government and the ACT Government.

14 December 2023. Australia. Systra acquires Rail Systems Australia

French transport consultancy group SYSTRA has announced the acquisition of Rail Systems Australia to complete its range of services. The company’s Australian and New Zealand branch, SYSTRA ANZ, is now set to introduce an enlarged local workforce, aiming to present more “sustainable, and integrated public transportation networks”.

Our client is seeking an Operational Readiness Expert to work in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Operational Readiness Expert is responsible for facilitating the effective implementation of new operations and services within the railway network. This encompasses developing operating plans with subsidiary companies, determining resource requirements, supporting with regulatory approvals, managing operational readiness budgeting processes, overseeing operator preparedness and asset delivery, and supporting a smooth transition to planned steady-state operations.

Accountability Areas:

Operating Plans Development and Implementation:

* Activities: Oversee the operators development of comprehensive operating plans for new services, outlining procedures, delivery schedules, and performance targets.

* Deliverables: Operating Plans, Implementation Schedules of New Services.

Resource Assessment and Allocation:

* Activities: Oversee the allocation of necessary resources for new operations, promoting optimal utilization and efficiency for the ramp-up phase, and steady-state phase.

* Deliverables: Resource Allocation Plans.

Regulatory Approval and Compliance:

* Activities: Support with accusation of all necessary regulatory approvals for new operations, checking for full compliance with all relevant laws and standards.

* Deliverables: Regulatory Compliance Reports.

Budget Management and Financial Planning:

* Activities: Manage the budgeting for operational readiness, including budget planning and cost analysis.

* Deliverables: Operational Readiness Budget Plans.

Job Requirements:

* Degree in science, technology, engineering, or any degree combined with relevant experience.

Experience

* A minimum of 8 years of Relevant Experience. Extensive experience in railway operations, specifically in implementing new services and operations. Excellent leadership and communication abilities.

Certifications Preferable:

* Leadership and communication

* Rail management certification
