3 May 2023. United Kingdom. TransPennine Express unveils Eurovision train

TransPennine Express (TPE) has unveiled a Eurovision wrapped train that will be used by passengers heading to and from the world’s biggest singing competition in the host city, Liverpool. The TPE Nova 2 train, that features a ‘Welcome to Liverpool’ message along with iconic Eurovision livery, was serenaded by a soprano as it set off on its inaugural journey across the North.

3 May 2023. Canada. Requests for Qualifications Issued for Ontario’s Yonge North Subway Extension

Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx have released a request for qualifications (RfQ) for the Advance Tunnel Contract package for the Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE). This project will extend the Toronto Transit Commission’s (TTC) Line 1 subway by approximately eight kilometres from the existing terminus at Finch Station into Richmond Hill.

3 May 2023. International. Strait of Gibraltar tunnel plans revived

Spain and Morocco have agreed to restart the development of proposals for a rail tunnel under the Strait of Gibraltar. Studies for an inter-continental fixed-link have been undertaken at intervals over more than 40 years, under the co-ordination of state owned entities Secegsa in Spain and SNED in Morocco. However, the Moroccan-Spanish joint committee had not met since 2009.

2 May 2023. United Kingdom. Global Centre of Rail Excellence Commences Partnership with Talgo

The Global Centre of Rail Excellence (GCRE) in south Wales has taken delivery of its first rail carriage, marking the start of a new partnership with train manufacturer, Talgo. Talgo donated the carriage to be developed into a visitor’s centre at the 400 million GBP GCRE facility.

2 May 2023. Uzbekistan. Second phase of Toshkent metro’s Circle Line opens

The second phase of the Toshkent metro’s Circle Line has been opened for revenue service. The 7·7 km extension from Qo’ylik (7-Bekat) to 12-Bekat in the Quruvchilar district south of the international airport adds a further five stations. Of these, only Paralimpiya Harakati has a name, with the other stations simply being numbered. Signalling on the elevated extension was supplied by 1520 Group and Trans Engineering Group.

2 May 2023. India. Simplex Launches Bangalore Metro Reach 3C’s Final Segment

Simplex Infrastructure on Sunday night launched their final precast segment for Bangalore Metro Green Line’s 3.031 km Reach 3C project on Tumkur Road. This elevated extension of the 73.92 km Phase 2 project connects Nagasandra (formerly Hesaraghatta Cross) and Madavar (formerly BIEC) via 88 spans and 3 new stations at Manjunathnagar, Chikkabidarakallu (formerly Jindal) and Madavar.

2 May 2023. France. Alstom to Supply Citadis Trams to Toulouse, Brest and Besançon

Under a new group order, Alstom will supply the metropolitan areas of Toulouse, Brest and Besançon in France with a total of 22 Citadis trams. This order will include 9 trams for Toulouse, 8 for Brest and 5 for Besançon. During an 8-year period, additional units may also be ordered to meet eat transport agency’s future needs.

1 May 2023. India. Ahmedabad and Surat metro electrification contracts awarded

Gujarat Metro Rail Corp has awarded two contracts to a consortium of Siemens Mobility and state-owned project company Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd for the supply of electrification equipment and project management on Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 and Surat Metro Phase 1. Siemens Mobility’s share of the contracts announced on April 20 is valued €75m. The company had previously been selected to supply 750 V DC third rail electrification for the first phase of the Ahmedabad metro.

29 April 2023. India. Bangalore Metro’s TBM Rudra Records Breakthrough at Lakkasandra

Tunnel Boring Machine S-1259 operated by Afcons Infrastructure on Friday evening recorded a breakthrough at Lakkasandra Station for Bangalore Metro’s 21.386 km Pink Line (Nagawara – Kalena Agrahara). Nicknamed Rudra, this was TBM S-1259’s second breakthrough for the northbound tunnel. Overall, this was the 6th of 8 breakthroughs planned in 73.92 km Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project‘s 3.655 km Package RT-01 connecting Rashtriya Military School Station – Dairy Circle South Ramp.

* Conducting inspections: responsible for conducting inspections of power systems, including testing and troubleshooting, to identify and resolve issues before they cause disruptions or safety hazards.

Our client has the contract to provide project management support for the construction of Double Line Electrified Railway Track with a Signalling and Telecommunication System and related infrastructure for Rewari-Dadri and JNPTVadodara section (approx. 555 km route) of Phase-2 of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor and for Procurement of Electric Locomotives.

They are looking for an Indian National for the Chief Contract Administration Expert position to be based in their New Delhi office for 42 man-months to;

- Prepare and implement coordination procedure, Advise and assist the Client in the preparation of the procedural system, Interact with the Client's designated officers

and staff on a regular basis, Attend review meetings, and Be available to attend meetings with JICA missions.

- Make use of MIS in carrying out its assignment

- Assist the Client in coordination with different agencies

- Prepare and implement project control procedures and document control procedures

- Support preparation of correspondence to contractors

- Manage claim control, Manage change control, and Issue the relevant certificates as may be required in the DB works contracts documents

- Be Available and cooperate to the full extent of its familiarity with the DB contract during DAB meetings, arbitration proceedings, and other hearings held by the statutory

- Review a master project programme, Review the contractor's programmes and associated progress, Monitor the overall construction schedule and evaluate the progress of overall

achieve any of the Project Milestones, the PMC shall identify the causes of delays, and review the Program submitted by the Contractor. Identify the reason for the delay, review

the project completion schedule, and assess compensation to the Contractor, if the works are suspended for reasons not attributable to the Contractor. Determination of the disposition

of any time extensions requested by the Contractor with their reasonableness.

- Review project budget and cost plan, Estimate overall project cost, Assess the financial position, and project long-term financial statement

- Certify all contract payments and satisfy the Client and MOR in monitoring the same. Make fair and reasonable assessments of the payment requests by the Contract, and certification

of full or partial payment, depending on its assessment of the Contract payment request.

- Determination of the disposition of any cost proposals submitted by the Contractor with their reasonableness of all services.

- Give consent to the Key position CV to be provided by the contractors as per the provision of the contracts.

- Prepare Inception Report, Daily Report, Weekly Progress Report, Monthly Progress Report, Quarterly Report, Completion Report, and Any Other Reports as sought by the Client

- Recommend acceptance or rejection of completed work

- Verify the measurement of the quantity of work executed and check the payment certificate

- Prepare integrated periodical reports

Job Requirements:

- Academic qualification: minimum Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field

- General work experience: more than twelve (12) years

- Experience in the same/similar position: more than six (6) years

- Overseas project experience: more than three (3) years

- Must have a good understanding of FIDIC Yellow Book
