AECOM, in partnership with lead partner bd infrastructure and specialist consultants Biosis, Artefact Heritage, and IRIS Visual Planning + Design, has been appointed as the Environmental Planning and Assessment Advisor role for the Development Phase of the Australian Government’s Newcastle to Sydney High Speed Rail project. The partners will serve as client-side advisors throughout the project’s two-year Development Phase and will handle the preparation of environmental impact assessments.

25 August 2026. Israel. Tel Aviv Metro Opens $10 Billion Tender Process for Driverless Trains
NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd. has opened pre-qualification for contracts worth approximately 10 billion USD to supply and operate systems for the planned Tel Aviv Metro.
The contracts form part of the Infra II stage of the wider Tel Aviv Metro project, which is valued at approximately 60 billion USD. Companies selected through the process will provide the trains and technology needed to operate the new network.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) has become the first metro organisation in India to receive the ISO 55001:2024 certification for its Asset Management System. The certification covers the Operations and Maintenance of Mumbai Metro Line-3 (Aqua Line). ISO 55001:2024 is the latest international standard that provides a clear framework for managing physical assets throughout their full life cycle from planning and purchase to operation, maintenance, upgrades and eventual replacement. It helps organisations balance performance, risk and cost while improving reliability and long-term value.

24 August 2026.Australia. Contract awarded for Western Sydney Airport metro connection
EnerMech has secured a contract with Parklife Metro to support the construction and commissioning of the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project. The contract will be delivered by EnerMech’s Infrastructure & Industrial Solutions (I&I) business and will focus on electrical services supporting safe and controlled energisation during construction and commissioning. The scope includes authorised isolator and high-voltage switching support, as well as permit-to-work and permit control officer services.

24 August 2026. Indonesia. Jakarta metro fare collection system upgrading contract awarded
MRT Jakarta has awarded Hitachi Rail and PT Softorb Technology Indonesia a contract to modernise the automatic fare collection system on Phase 1 of the North-South Line. The CP111 MRT Jakarta AFC System Development & Performance Improvement contract will see more than 200 devices at 13 stations replaced to accept various types of tickets at the fare gates and to integrate with a new account-based ticketing system.

Hitachi Rail has been awarded a signalling contract by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) covering the integration of two new stations, NS3A and NS6, on the North-South Line. The contract includes system integration, testing and commissioning of the signalling systems, with works to be delivered by Hitachi Rail’s Singapore-based team while maintaining passenger services on the existing line. The signalling works will use Hitachi Rail’s SELTRAC Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) technology to integrate both stations with the existing North-South Line infrastructure.

24 August 2026. Thailand. Thailand approves 12.54 km Songkhla monorail project
Thailand’s Cabinet has approved in principle a draft royal decree authorising the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) to operate a 12.54km monorail in Songkhla province. The Ministry of Transport and MRTA will update existing feasibility and design studies, accelerate site surveys and prepare detailed tender documents for the project. The monorail will run from Khlong Hwa in Hat Yai district, near the Malaysian border, to the Van Terminal, with 12 stations.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Develop rolling stock maintenance strategies with KPIs and optimisation initiatives aligned to operational and strategic objectives.
* Support the preparation of functional requirements and technical specifications for rolling stock and associated procurements.
* Provide technical expertise in tender evaluations, apply value engineering principles, and oversee contractor performance on projects.
* Supervise all technical systems related to rolling stock and mass transit maintenance, ensuring system sustainability and integration with internal and external platforms.
* Maintain risk register, oversee hazard mitigation measures, verify safety cases, and manage variations/claims related to rolling stock and associated systems.
Operations
* Monitor rolling stock maintenance contracts to ensure quality, compliance, and timely execution of preventive and corrective maintenance programmes.
* Review and evaluate contractor submissions related to design, installation, and maintenance of subsystems including HVAC, propulsion, brakes, TCMS, and doors.
* Coordinate cross-functional interfaces involving signalling, SCADA, power, depot, and communications to ensure seamless implementation and serviceability.
* Lead and supervise Factory and Site Acceptance Testing activities; oversee commissioning, technical inspections, and quality assurance for assets.

Our client is an engineering consultancy and they are seeking an Electrical Earthing Design Engineer to work in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.
As a professional electrical engineer you will conduct technical reporting and analysis tasks, on-site testing and commissioning activities along with project management and client interfacing. Your engineering and project experience will be key to assist the client to deliver the following as part of collaborative team against relevant Australian and International standards:
- Earthing system design, analysis and compliance assessments is essential.
- Lightning protection system design, analysis and compliance assessments.
- Low frequency interference studies.
- Protection grading studies and HV power system load flow investigations and analysis.
- Knowledge of Australian standards relating to high voltage and electrical installations.
- Prepare quality deliverables consistent with client expectations
- Manage work packages to achieve quality, budgetary and programme expectations
- Develop and maintain client relationships
- Assist and mentor less experienced team members
