1 July 2026. Taiwan. Hitachi Rail Celebrates Launch of Sanying MRT Line
Hitachi Rail has celebrated the launch of the brand-new Sanying MRT Line, which officially entered revenue service yesterday, 30 June 2026, as announced by the New Taipei City Government. Passengers travelling through 31 August 2026 will receive free travel in recognition of the line’s opening. Delivered with major contributions from Hitachi Rail; the Sanying Line represents a major milestone in the expansion of New Taipei City’s metro network.

1 July 2026. United Kingdom. Landmark rail agreement to accelerate integration ahead of GBR
Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with key rail industry partners, signalling a major shift towards a more integrated, reliable and passenger-focused railway network across the region. The agreement, described as the first of its kind, brings together Network Rail alongside publicly owned operators Northern, TransPennine Express and LNER.

1 July 2026. India. Delhi Metro Rail Corp. Awarded for Operational Excellence by UITP
The honour was awarded to DMRC during the UITP award ceremony in Brussels, Belgium, on June 23, 2026. Dr Amit Kumar Jain, the Director of Operations and Services and Mr Rajnish Rana, Additional General Manager, DMRC received the award. The award recognizes DMRC’s accomplishments in advancing sustainable urban transport and smart door-to-door connectivity for travellers. DMRC renders this service through an integration of providing first/last mile connectivity, transmission of real-time information, and a smooth ticketing system.

1 July 2026. Malaysia. Malaysia launches Shah Alam Line to expand Klang Valley urban rail network
The Government of Malaysia has launched the 37.8 km LRT3 Shah Alam Line, providing a new high-capacity east-west urban rail corridor linking Bandar Utama, Shah Alam and Johan Setia in the Klang Valley. Opened by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on June 28, with passenger services commencing the following day, the automated driverless line is the first rapid transit route located entirely within Selangor, outside the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. Free travel on the line and Rapid KL feeder bus services will be available until July 31.

A high-level Philippine government panel has approved four major public investment infrastructure projects spanning rail transport, vocational training, clean energy, and disaster resilience, the Department of Finance (DOF) said on Monday. The Investment Coordination Committee-Cabinet Committee (ICC-CC) endorsed the projects for final approval by the Economy and Development Council, to be elevated to the Economy and Development Council, chaired by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., for final approval.

29 June 2026. Australia. Works begin for Melbourne Airport Rail upgrades
Preparatory works are underway at Tottenham ahead of major rail upgrades that will support Stage One of the Melbourne Airport Rail project between West Footscray and Albion. Crews are carrying out site investigations ahead of the reconstruction of the Ashley Street rail bridge and construction of a new Tottenham Station, which will be relocated around 20 metres north of its current location to accommodate realigned Sunbury Line tracks.

29 June 2026. Spain. SYSTRA Ardanuy secures key contracts on Spanish tramway scheme
SYSTRA Ardanuy has strengthened its role in Spain’s growing light rail market after being awarded two major contracts on the future Camp de Tarragona tramway in Catalonia. The appointments will play a central role in delivering and commissioning the first phase of the network, which will be operated by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya. The scheme marks a significant step forward in sustainable transport for southern Catalonia.

26 June 2026. India. Alstom & Indian Railways to Provide Maintenance for WAG-12B Fleet
Alstom has announced that its joint venture with Indian Railways, Madhepura Electric Locomotive Private Limited (MELPL), has been awarded a brand-new five-year maintenance services contract. Valued at 107 million EUR; the agreement includes the comprehensive maintenance of a set of WAG-12B electric locomotives at the MELPL Nagpur Depot. Alstom’s receipt of the contract follows the recent execution of a previous four-year agreement.

Job Purpose is to oversee the planning, execution, and control of Rail Design's Gold Line Metro portfolio, ensuring alignment with Dubai and company strategies, the Rail Network Plan 2032, and the corporate governance framework. Ensure the project is executed with high quality from start to finish. Provide strategic advice, monitor performance, and coordinate with partners to maintain compliant, efficient, and results-driven delivery. Ensure program management components align with the company's strategic objectives, governance frameworks, quality standards, approved budgets, and operational excellence standards.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Strategy:
• Serve as the primary advisor to company management and CEOs on Gold Line Metro portfolio priorities and benefits realization.
• Ensure Gold Line Metro rail design projects' objectives are aligned with the company's strategy, Dubai Strategic Plan, and Rail Network Plan 2032, with a focus on design standards, asset lifecycle, and infrastructure integration.
• Ensure consistency between program objectives and Dubai's wider urban development frameworks and approved transport and infrastructure masterplan.
• Ensure Gold Line Metro projects comply with the governance framework and corporate and technical standards.
• Lead strategic committees for Gold Line Metro projects and coordinate corporate partnerships, memberships, and participation in external forums/agreements; follow up on outputs and performance commitments.
Operations
• Review and track design submissions, contractor mobilization, and work design progress to support delivery milestones.
• Conduct review and provide preliminary approvals on vendor and contractor deliverables to ensure alignment with program requirements, rail design standards and agreed specifications.
• Monitor Gold Line Metro program lifecycle and performance including milestones, budgets, resource utilization, risk/challenge analysis and deliverables; prepare progress and completion reports and highlight deviations and recovery actions to the CEO.
• Provide oversight of value engineering reviews at key stages, reviewing comprehensive reports with recommendations for cost reduction, service improvement, and operational resilience.
• Oversee and align multidisciplinary rail design, review, and approval process covering architectural, structural, civil, MEP, accessibility, and signage elements including amendments and updates to ensure compliance.
Job Requirements
Required:
* Bachelor's degree/ Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, Construction Management or Infrastructure Planning
* Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 5 years of experience in program management in related functional area and 5 years of experience with government agencies
* Professional Certificate in Program Management (PgMP), PMP Certificate
Preferred:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Project Management; Master's degree in Construction Management or Infrastructure Planning
* 12+ years of experience in related functional area with at least 5 years of experience in program management in related functional area and 5 years of experience with government agencies

Our client is an engineering consultancy, and they are seeking an Electrical Earthing Design Engineer to work in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.
As a professional electrical engineer you will conduct technical reporting and analysis tasks, on-site testing and commissioning activities along with project management and client interfacing. Your engineering and project experience will be key to assist the client to deliver the following as part of collaborative team against relevant Australian and International standards:
- Earthing system design, analysis and compliance assessments is essential.
- Lightning protection system design, analysis and compliance assessments.
- Low frequency interference studies.
- Protection grading studies and HV power system load flow investigations and analysis.
- Knowledge of Australian standards relating to high voltage and electrical installations.
- Prepare quality deliverables consistent with client expectations
- Manage work packages to achieve quality, budgetary and programme expectations
- Develop and maintain client relationships
- Assist and mentor less experienced team members
Job Requirements:
