18 June 2026. Hong Kong. Hong Kong Expands High-Speed Rail Network
MTR Corporation has announced that Hong Kong’s high-speed rail network will expand to 113 direct destinations from 1 July, following the addition of three new stations. The new destinations — Guangzhoubei, Yiwu and Fuqingxi — will be added after coordination with mainland railway authorities, extending the reach of the High Speed Rail (Hong Kong Section) network. The changes will see selected services from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station make additional stops at the new stations.

18 June 2026. Australia. $2.1B rail reliability package
The New South Wales Government will invest a record $2.1 billion in rail maintenance and reliability improvements aimed at strengthening the Sydney Trains network and improving incident response for passengers. Announced as part of the 2026-27 New South Wales Budget, the Rail Reliability Plan includes an additional $200 million for network maintenance, funding for upgrades to the Rail Operations Centre and the recruitment of additional train drivers and guards for intercity services. The package also includes investment in track, signalling and power infrastructure upgrades across the network.

17 June 2026. Indonesia. Singapore-based firms invited to invest in Jakarta MRT expansion projects
The Government of Singapore has invited investors to participate in the development of Phase 3 and Phase 4 of the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system. The proposal was discussed, where both sides explored investment opportunities in urban transport infrastructure, transit-oriented development (TOD) projects and initiatives supporting Jakarta’s ambition to become a global city. The Jakarta provincial government stated that it is committed to creating a transparent, efficient and stable investment environment through clear regulations, streamlined processes and consistent policies.

17 June 2026. Poland. PESA and Hitachi Rail Partner on Polish High-Speed Rail Bid
Hitachi Rail and PESA Bydgoszcz have signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at expanding their presence in Poland’s rail sector, including plans for high-speed train production, technology transfer and future export opportunities across Central and Eastern Europe. The partnership will focus on the development and manufacture of high-speed rolling stock, joint bids for double-decker train projects and the localisation of advanced rail technologies in Poland.

16 June 2026. India. Siemens & Titagarh join hands to supply propulsion system for Pune Metro
Siemens obtained an order from Titagarh Rail Systems Limited for the Pune Metro extension project. The mobility infrastructure firm will supply advanced propulsion systems, and Train Control & Monitoring System (TCMS) for the project. The scope of the work includes design, manufacture, supply and warranty of traction converters, auxiliary converters and traction motors; and TCMS for 12 train sets. On Monday (15th June), Siemens Limited issued a press release informing us about the deal.

15 June 2026. Indonesia. plans expansion of national railway network to 10,524 km
The Government of Indonesia is accelerating the expansion of its national railway network to 10,524 km as part of a major infrastructure programme aimed at reducing logistics costs, easing road congestion and supporting balanced regional economic development. Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said the initiative aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision of building a modern rail system as a foundation for national development. Indonesia’s active railway network currently extends approximately 6,927 km across.

The transport ministers of Turkey and Saudi Arabia have signed memoranda of understanding for co-operation on railway technology, infrastructure development and long-term connectivity between the countries, including a potential revival of the historic Hedjaz Railway corridor through Syria and Jordan. The MoUs were signed in Riyadh on June 9 by Turkey’s Minister of Transport & Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport & Logistic Services Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser.

Job Description:
We are bidding for work on the Malolos–Clark Railway Project in the Philippines, and we are seeking suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the role of Digital Systems and Data Management Expert (3 person-months).
This Job closes on 10 July 2026.
Responsibilities:
• Review existing digital tools, systems, and data management practices used for project monitoring, consultant performance tracking, and reporting
• Define system requirements and prepare design-level recommendations for an integrated digital monitoring and evaluation framework, including data architecture and interoperability
• Develop conceptual designs and specifications for dashboards and data visualization tools to support performance monitoring and decision-making
• Assess alignment with existing Rail digital strategies (including BIM, GIS, and CDE platforms) and recommend enhancements
• Prepare a Digital Monitoring and Evaluation Roadmap covering system integration approaches, data governance principles, and phased implementation considerations
• Provide high-level recommendations on data standards, information management processes, and the application of emerging technologies (e.g., AI-enabled analytics) to improve project monitoring and evaluation
Job Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Information Technology or related areas.
• Relevant comprehensive training on BIM or GIS is required
• At least five (5) years of experience in BIM or GIS role in complex infrastructure/rail projects.
• Major Contractor/Consultant experience is preferred.
• Experience working on ADB-financed, or similar international organizations' projects would be highly valued.
